Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry allows you to be sedated just enough to be pain-free, anxiety-free and unaware of your treatment due to your relaxed but conscious state. That is why it is often referred to as conscious sedation dentistry.

Our patients have the option of using either intravenous (IV) or enteral conscious sedation. Thanks to special training by the well recognized DOCS (Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation ) society, we can offer an alternative to IV sedation that involves the use of oral sedatives and is known as oral conscious sedation.

The benefits of using sedation for your treatments include: an anxiety-free visit, complete comfort during the procedure, little to no memory of the procedure and completion of more therapy at each visit.

Typical procedures that sedation is useful for include deep cleanings, extractions, periodontal surgery, and oral surgery (including implant placement).

If you have sensitive teeth, a fear of dentists, a bad gag reflex, hate needles, a limited time to spend at the dentist, or are just not looking forward to your necessary treatments-sedation can help you.

Dental anxiety is much more common than many people think, and it can prevent patients from seeking necessary dental care and maintenance. Furthermore, patients who suffer from dental phobias may forgo dental cosmetic procedures that could greatly improve their confidence. If you or someone you love suffers from dental anxiety, Dr. Cross wants to help.
